The Beatles Story, based in Liverpool, is the world’s largest permanent exhibition dedicated to the lives and times of The Beatles. Attracting visitors from across the globe, the attraction is a leading name in tourism memorabilia and retail merchandise, offering fans authentic, high-quality apparel and souvenirs inspired by the legendary band.
The Beatles Story sought to create a sustainable and retail-quality clothing range that reflected the strength of their brand while appealing to the huge demand for Beatles memorabilia. The goal was to deliver garments that would stand out as true band apparel, combining style, sustainability, and authenticity. Key priorities included:
· Organic and recycled cotton product selection.
· Ensuring retail-quality garments suitable for international visitors.
· Delivering a range of t-shirts, hoodies, caps, shoppers, and beanies.
· Developing two different print styles for creative flexibility.
· Ensuring efficient replenishment and repeat ordering to meet high demand.
Wild Thang worked in close collaboration with The Beatles Story team to bring their ideas to life. The process included:
· Creative Development & Sampling: Dozens of garment samples and creative presentations were reviewed, covering inner neck prints, sleeve prints, and logo placements. Final approval came after rigorous sampling of three core colourways: black, navy, and marl grey.
· Sustainable Manufacturing: Utilisation of organic and recycled cotton t-shirts and hoodies, plus organic cotton caps. Printing was managed in-house, using water-based inks for eco-friendly, high-definition finishes.
· Caps & Accessories: To capture the detail of The Beatles’ iconic imagery, a woven patch with embroidery was used on 5-panel organic cotton caps — proving highly successful, with nearly 1,000 caps produced within two months and multiple replenishment orders.
· Quality Control & Delivery: Every garment passed through our QC teams, ensuring retail-ready standards. Stock was delivered in bulk, with systems in place for fast repeat orders to stay reactive to demand.
· Sales Monitoring: We stayed engaged post-launch, tracking sales success and stock levels. This enabled us to identify bestsellers (black and navy garments), manage replenishments efficiently, and prepare informed recommendations for future product development.
The Beatles Story range has proven to be a huge retail success, surpassing sales expectations and reinforcing the brand’s global reputation.
· Retail-Quality Apparel: Organic and recycled cotton garments delivered a premium product that met tourist expectations for authentic band merchandise.
· Sustainability: B Corp principles were embedded throughout the process, from material choice to print methods, reflecting the client’s commitment to responsible retail.
· Sales Growth: Four orders have already been placed, including three replenishments within the first four months. Caps alone saw two replenishment orders and close to 1,000 units sold in just two months.
· Future Development: The success has led to expansion into beanies and winter garments such as fleeces and scarves, ensuring the range continues to evolve.
